SUNOVA SUP MALDIVES FLEET

Moon Tours SUNOVA board list

In recent years Sunova has become a leader in the growing Stand Up Paddle market, producing unique Balsa wood high-performance surf and race SUPs that have become the most sort after boards on the market.

Sunova Surfboards are a manufacturer of high-performance composite sandwich surfboards. Under the tutelage of Shaper of the Year, and legendary shaper Bert Burger, Sunova has been pioneering the use of parabolic balsa rails and veneer-skinned surfboards for over 20 years. Originating out of Mandurah, Western Australia, Bert has been leading the way in lightweight surfboards built with an emphasis on strength and flex to create epoxy surfboards that are not only strong surfboards lasting much longer than the industry standard PU boards but high-performance surfboards.

BYO your own boards or book one of our SUNOVA SUPs for $250AUD

If you want to leave your board at home and book one of our SUNOVA SUPs for sole use you can do so for $250AUD included in the fee is one minor deck repair. No there will not be a refund if you don’t damage the board but it gives you some piece of mind that we’re fair and reasonable when you book one of our boards.

This service is for people who don’t want to or can’t travel with their own SUP, we do not offer boards for sole use if you are bringing your own. We generally have some spares on the boat if you break your board beyond ridable (which hasn’t happened yet) or if there is a board available that you would like to demo. Repair terms apply and would be expected you use it once or twice to try, any more than that and you will need to pay the hire rate.

Please check with us to see if we have something suitable available. Our SUPs are on a first come first serve basis and subject to availability. If you chose to book a Moon Tours SUP it is your responsibility to inspect the board prior to use and note any pre-existing damage to your guides and Moon Tours hosts. You are responsible for the equipment loaned to you for the duration of the trip as if it were your own and you will be required to cover any repair costs.

To be paid on board while on tour if required –

Minimum $50USD for lost/broken fins, small dings and minor repairs.

Rails / major repairs minimum $100USD Most of the time we can temporarily repair a board on the boat to keep you going but that doesn’t mean it is not a major repair. The board may have to be repaired on land or carried back to Australia or Thailand for repairs in rare circumstances.

Snapped/creased written-off boards (which hasn’t happened yet) will be charged at the current second-hand market value and you get to keep it as a momento.

Please note we do not supply fins, paddles or leg ropes. These are all personal preferences.

Leg ropes can be purchased on board if required $60USD each

We do have spare fins and paddles available if you lose or damage your own.

Broken paddles will be charged at 60% of the RRP

Fins sets – tri fin $50USD / quad fin $70USD

”If you’re a surfer riding a smaller board or simply love riding your favourite board, we encourage you to bring it! There is no problem bringing your own board and it’s pretty easy travelling with airlines like Singapore and Air Asia for example”

What SUP boards do we have in the Maldives?

THE NEW, IMPROVED, FLOW 2.0 is a collaborative shape between Marcus Tardrew, Bert Burger and James (Jimmy) Casey. This board has all the original performance features of the Flow built-in, now with a step deck and even thinner rails for more radical performance.

It’s one of the most versatile surf shapes in our range for everyday conditions. Check one out if you want to be ready for anything the ocean throws your way.

THE FLASH is a cooperative creation between legendary shaper Bert Burger and young ripper James ‘Jimmy’ Casey. Jimmy wanted a high-performance machine that would sit between the FLOW and ACID. Something that surfed tight in the pocket, better than the FLOW, but could still handle fatter sections better than the ACID, while still having amazing surfabitly in the widest range of conditions.

The FLASH really is the best of both worlds!!

THE SPEEED is really almost like 2 separate boards. With its super straight outline, it’s made to fly. It picks up speed incredibly easily. But the tail is radically narrow and basically allows the rider to throw the board around on pure thought! It’s amazing how this is even possible.

One of the most versatile shapes in our range and in general…

THE PLACID is something a little different;

Do you have a quiet or shy brother who is a completely mad dog when you get to know him? I do. This board is the Acid’s Maddog brother. To look at it looks kinda tame with its wider nose. But look closer, get to know it. It has quite a lot of rocker, fine rails, and performance bottom contours. The placid is just its name. Not its character.

THE CREEK received its name from our good friend Mr. Rick Weeks aka SUPthecreek. Over the last 6 years, Rick has become somewhat of our master tester and approver of our SUP surf range. With his intensive knowledge of other boards on the market and his never effected time for constant testing, his judgment is very much appreciated.

Over the last years, he really understood better than almost anyone including ourselves, our range and what each board really does and where it belongs. So it was only a matter of time before Rick asked Bert.

How would it be if I wanted: The outline of the SKATE, the performance of the FLOW, the rocker of the ACID, and most important the tail of the SPEEED.

Well… A lot of people asked that same question and this is the result.

ADDITIONAL TO OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUNOVA SUPs

If you plan on bringing your own board our boards cannot be allocated for backup boards and sole use. Any boards that have not been allocated for sole use will be available to use and demo from time to time throughout the tour.

“This is to be fair that everyone is riding their preferred board for the duration of the trip, and that their preferred board is not sitting in the rack booked by someone as a spare or backup”

Supplied boards are subject to availability and may change without notice or become unavailable. When you are allocated one of our boards that board will be considered yours for the entire trip. If you decide to let others use the board or swap boards around that is up to you. Consider the board yours and treat it as if it is such for the entire charter.

If you are trying, demoing or using any of the SUNOVA SUPs in our range it is your responsibility to inspect the board for damage before use. If you find any damage prior to use you need to let a Moon Tours representative know before use.  Any damage found will be billed to the person who last used the board.
